Hi, I'm Richard — a Vancouver-based filmmaker + photographer who loves telling stories through a documentary lens.
Over the past two years, I've filmed 150+ interviews, each one teaching me something new about human connection and the art of storytelling. I believe every person has a story worth telling beautifully.
What makes my approach different is that I think like both a creative and a marketer. My UBC business degree helps me understand not just how to capture compelling moments, but why certain stories resonate and how they can serve your broader goals. I care about the craft, but I also care about creating content that actually works for you.
I'm comfortable wearing multiple hats. Some days I'm a one-person crew capturing intimate, character-driven stories. Other days I'm coordinating with larger teams on more complex productions. Either way, I bring the same attention to detail and commitment to authenticity.
When I'm not filming, you'll find me exploring Vancouver's coffee shops, curating playlists that fuel my creative process, or playing hockey and tennis. I believe that staying curious about the world makes me better at capturing it.
If you're looking for someone who'll treat your story with care, creativity, and strategic thinking, reach out at hello@richardlam.com. I'm always excited to hear about new projects.
