Hi, I'm Richard — a Vancouver-based filmmaker and photographer, fundamentally curious about people.
That curiosity led me to documentary work. I wanted to make things that mattered — stories that gave people a real chance to be heard, and gave audiences something genuine to hold onto.
Over the past few years, I've filmed 200+ interviews. Each one has reinforced the same belief: the best stories happen when someone feels seen, not just filmed. I approach every project with curiosity, sensitivity, and empathy.
What sets my work apart is that I think like both a creative and a strategist. I care deeply about craft, but I'm equally invested in whether the work actually lands — whether it connects with the people who need to hear it.
I'm drawn to projects with depth: documentaries, branded content with something real to say, and stories that linger long after people watch them.
When I'm not working, you'll find me traveling, exploring Vancouver's coffee scene, or working on my tennis and hockey game. Staying curious about the world makes me better at capturing it.
If you're looking for someone who'll treat your story with intention and care — let's talk. Reach out at hello@richardalam.com. I'm especially interested in projects that go beyond the expected.
